Materials to Review for TWK Organizational Meeting Materials needed for voting members and delegates to prepare for the Dec. 4th TWK Organizational Meeting will be available at twkumc.org on Friday, November 5. Additional information will be sent soon via email to all eligible members and clergy regarding voting codes and online training. Please note: the voters are THE SAME people who were elected to vote at the June 2021 Memphis and Tennessee Annual Conferences (not newly elected to serve at the 2022 TWK Annual Conference). Resources for National Family Caregiver Month November is National Family Caregiver Month. Mental Health America (MHA) has provided resources for caregivers to maintain their mental health and help them better serve their loved ones with mental illnesses. See this link for toolkits, articles ranging from an array of relevant topics, and other resources aimed at providing vital support. Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century Celebrates 25 Years The United Methodist Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century will kick off its 25th anniversary celebration during the group's Dec. 1-2, 2021 conference, "Shift Happens: Doing Ministry from the Right Side," held at St. John's UMC in Houston. Learn more about the conference here. The TWK Connect Strategy Team would like to offer scholarships to those who plan to attend the SBC21: Shift Happens conference. The conference has virtual and in-person options. Please complete the scholarship application form by Monday, November 15, 2021, at noon if you are interested in financial support to attend. New Grant Program for Churches The Board of the Development Fund for Kentucky and Tennessee and the Foundation for the Memphis and Tennessee Annual Conferences is pleased to announce the establishment of a new grant program. These grants are to aid churches or affiliated Conference entities with building or renovation projects. Please click here for more information. SEJ Grants Available for Leadership Development The Intentional Growth Center, an agency of the Southeastern Jurisdiction (SEJ) of the UMC, is accepting applications for grants aimed at funding ministries dedicated to church leader development, as well as increasing Christian discipleship. Grants will be available both to local congregations and church organizations. More New Conference Communications Staff Member This week we welcome new Communications Specialist, Tyler Sprouse, who will be working with Communications Director, Amy Hurd, in the conference office. Tyler grew up in West Virginia, has an M.Div. from the divinity school at Duke University, and has served in churches in West Virginia and New York City. An outstanding writer, he is eager to assist our churches in writing their stories! Please contact him at Tyler.Sprouse@tnumc.com with story ideas and words of welcome. Christmas at Beersheba This beloved event is on for 2021! Sign up now for Day events on December 2, 7, 9, and 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Dec. 2 event will be at Birdsong UMC; Saint Marks UMC will lead the Dec. 9 date. (Churches are still needed to lead worship and music for the Dec. 7 and 11 events.) The overnight event is Dec. 10-11 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. Susan Ramsay will lead the group in Christmas storytelling and music. Register for the Overnight event now. The cost is $92 per person double occupancy or $127 for single occupancy. You also may call to register at 931-692-3669. Advent/Christmas Resource for Families A Sacred Home has created a resource for families to use during the season of Advent. The "Waiting" box provides faith formation practices for families for the season of Advent as we wait in hope for Christ together. It is available for pre-order now through mid-November. Many churches have distributed boxes from A Sacred Home to families in their congregation as a way of equipping households to draw nearer to God and one another. More information New Podcast Season Launch On Thursday, November 4, the Wesleyan Investive and the Texas Methodist Foundation (TMF) will launch a new season of their podcast, "Igniting Imagination." The new season emphasizes "God's Now," and explores creative ways churches can remain actively attuned to it during these times. Listen now
