News and Events Do No Harm: A Conversation about United Methodism & Gun Reform | August 6 On Aug. 6 at 5:00 p.m., Calvary UMC is hosting a panel discussion about United Methodism and gun reform ahead of the Governor's called session of the state legislature on public safety and constitutional rights. The event features three panelists: Bishop William T. McAlilly, Rev. Ingrid McIntyre, and Rev. Keri Cress. This panel discussion is sponsored by the TWK Conference and the Conference Committee on Church and Society. Attend either in person or online! Learn more. Disaffiliation Deadline Update | TWK Cabinet The TWK Cabinet has made an announcement with updated information concerning the November 13 Called Annual Conference. There are several steps that are required before a congregation is ready for the October deadline. Therefore, a congregation must have certain items completed by 12:00 p.m. on August 25, 2023. Learn more. Connectional Ministries Team Welcomes Rev. Kevin Crawford! The Connectional Ministries staff team is excited to welcome Rev. Kevin Crawford as the Ministry Formation and Research Specialist! Kevin will join Rev. Jefferson Furtado and Lynn Patterson in working with the Board of Ordained Ministry, as well as supporting other conference ministries through research and data strategy. We are thankful that Kevin has offered his unique and timely gifts as Jefferson will be serving as lead for the pastoral team of The Vine UMC, and Lynn will also be serving as supply pastor of Liberty UMC in Brentwood, TN. Lay Servant Ministry Training Opportunity in the Harpeth River District The Harpeth River District is offering basic and advanced courses on August 12 & 19 at Christ UMC in Franklin, TN. Learn more and register! Lisa M. Carson Receives Award of Excellence Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee recently announced that the TWK Conference chancellor, Lisa M. Carson, is the recipient of the 11th “Ed Moody Award of Excellence.” The award recognizes an individual or organization that has made a lasting impact on Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee and the Williamson County community. Carrie Yoder Joins Project Transformation Tennessee as Executive Director Project Transformation Tennessee (PTTN), whose mission is to transform communities by engaging children, college-aged young adults, and churches in purposeful relationships, recently announced the appointment of Rev. Carrie Yoder as Executive Director. Read more. Dedication Ceremony at Tom Lee Park in Memphis On Saturday, September 2, clergy persons from Memphis and beyond are invited to join in a special dedication ceremony at Tom Lee Park in Memphis. To celebrate the finished renovation of the park, clergy are invited to bring “sacred water” which will be poured over the statue of Tom Lee as a testament to Mr. Lee’s legacy and as a meditation on water’s vital role in human life. Need a New or Temporary UMC Home?

If your church is disaffiliated but you want to Stay UMC, you canjoin The Vine where you will find an immediate connection with others. Another option is to request that your district office hold your UMC membership temporarily until you find a new church home. If you choose the district option, please send an email or letter to the districtspecifically requesting to move your UMC membership. This will "park" your membership until you are ready to transfer it elsewhere. (If you are not sure which district to contact, check here - Districts - TWKUMC)
