The TWK Evangelism Team and the Foundation for Evangelism can recognize one youth, one clergy, and one layperson each year in the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference. TWK Church & Society | The Drug Crisis and the Church's Response The TWK Church & Society team urges churches to respond to the drug crisis sweeping the country. They ask those involved in addiction-related ministries to contact them at church.society@twkumc.org, so the team can compile a list of local churches that offer services or programs centered on recovery, accountability, and healing. Wespath | Public Service Loan Forgiveness Webinars Clergy and other employees of faith-based organizations are now eligible for the U.S. Department of Education’s Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program. Wespath is holding online webinars to provide more information on how to apply. These webinars will take place on May 9 and May 11. Learn more. Dismantling Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Racism May is AAPI Heritage Month and the TWK Committee on Religion & Race invites you to learn more about how you and your church can become engaged in the fight to dismantle AAPI racism. Connecting Neighbors | "Disaster Ready Congregations" Webinar The TWK Disaster Response Committee is hosting the Connecting Neighbors program, which trains congregations to be prepared for action in the event of a disaster, so the church can be a blessing to others in their affected communities. This Connecting Neighbors overview will help begin identifying ambassadors to support Disaster Ministries at the local church level. This Zoom training will be on May 15 at 2 p.m. Participants will receive the Zoom link on May 14. Register now. Lakeshore Camp & Retreat Center | Pre-Summer Camp Work Days Lakeshore is hosting several workdays in preparation of its summer camp. The workdays will be on May 10, 12, and 17. ANNUAL CONFERENCE "The River of Life Unites Us" | June 15-17, Brentwood UMC The annual conference will be available for viewing by the public via live stream at twkumc.org/AC2022. REGISTRATION: Clergy and eligible lay voting members were sent an Annual Conference Information Update LAST NIGHT with registration information. Please register by May 15 whether you intend to participate online or in person at Brentwood UMC. Please let us know if you did not receive the update sent last night, so we can confirm your address. We will need the correct email to reach you when voting credentials are distributed! (AC2022@twkumc.org or 615-329-1177) CHILDREN: Onsite childcare (ages 5 and under) and day camp (K-5th grade) will be offered at no cost to parents. Register your children now! Please note: the registration deadline for onsite childcare and the day camp has been extended to May 15! SHUTTLES NEEDED: We need some assistance so we can offer shuttle services to parking for annual conference attendees in June. This is a great opportunity to offer hospitality to those who are representing our local churches at the annual conference this year! If you have a shuttle or van AND a properly licensed driver available for a shift or two in Brentwood, TN on June 15-17, please email Izzie Zimmerman (izzie.zimmerman@twkumc.org) and she will communicate further details. OFFERING: The Annual Conference Offering will be for TWK Disaster Response. Please plan to BRING your church's offering with you to Brentwood.
