News and Events Do No Harm: A Conversation about United Methodism & Gun Reform | August 6 On Aug. 6 at 5:00 p.m., Calvary UMC is hosting a panel discussion about United Methodism and gun reform ahead of the Governor's called session of the state legislature on public safety and constitutional rights. The event features three panelists: Bishop William T. McAlilly, Rev. Ingrid McIntyre, and Rev. Keri Cress. Autura Eason-Williams Day of Lament & Action | July 30 Please plan to attend the Autura Eason-Williams Day of Lament and Action (AEWDLA) on Sunday, July 30, at 4:00 p.m. The AEWDLA is an annual event established by the Black Methodists for Church Renewal (BMCR) of the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Annual Conference of the UMC. Lisa M. Carson Receives Award of Excellence Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee recently announced that the TWK Conference chancellor, Lisa M. Carson, is the recipient of the 11th “Ed Moody Award of Excellence.” The award recognizes an individual or organization that has made a lasting impact on Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee and the Williamson County community. Carrie Yoder Joins Project Transformation Tennessee as Executive Director Project Transformation Tennessee (PTTN), whose mission is to transform communities by engaging children, college-aged young adults, and churches in purposeful relationships, today announced the appointment of Rev. Carrie Yoder as Executive Director. Read more. Dedication Ceremony at Tom Lee Park in Memphis On Saturday, September 2, clergy persons from Memphis and beyond are invited to join in a special dedication ceremony at Tom Lee Park in Memphis. To celebrate the finished renovation of the park, clergy are invited to bring “sacred water” which will be poured over the statue of Tom Lee as a testament to Mr. Lee’s legacy and as a meditation on water’s vital role in human life. Renfro Trust Fund Grants Available | Aug. 1 deadlineThe Renfro Trust Fund awards annual “brick-and-mortar” grants to small rural United Methodist congregations in the Southeastern Jurisdiction. Applicationsshould be submitted to the TWKUMC Global Ministries Team (renfro.grant@twkumc.org) by August 1 for consideration and the final needed signature.


Certificate Program | Community Engagement & Ministry

Registration is open for a Certificate Program being offered through the Center for Faith and Imagination at Memphis Theological Seminary. This program is ideal for clergy and laity who want to master tools and practices with which to guide their congregations in deeper engagement with their communities. The program runs from September 6 to October 4. Registration is $250. Register now.

Need a New or Temporary UMC Home? If your church is disaffiliated but you want to Stay UMC, you can join The Vine where you will find an immediate connection with others. Another option is to request that your district office hold your UMC membership temporarily until you find a new church home. If you choose the district option, please send an email or letter to the district specifically requesting to move your UMC membership. This will "park" your membership until you are ready to transfer it elsewhere.
