Denman Award Nominations Due May 5 The Harry Denman Evangelism Award program honors United Methodists whose exceptional ministry of evangelism brings people into a life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. The TWK Evangelism Team and the Foundation for Evangelism can recognize one youth, one clergy, and one layperson each year in the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference. Learn more about how you can nominate someone. Deadline extended for Conference Position Opening | Disaster Case Manager The Disaster Recovery Connection has an opening for a Disaster Case Manager. The deadline to apply is May 6, 2022. Click here for more information on the position and how to apply. TWK Commission on Religion and Race (CORR) | Anti-Racism Survey The new TWK CORR team would like to convene those in the conference engaging in anti-racism work. Please use the link to complete the survey as they seek to learn about what is already happening around the conference. The listening session hosted by CORR will gather via Zoom on Thursday, April 28 at 6 pm. The Zoom link will be sent out on the morning of April 28 to those who complete the survey. Red River District Lay Ministry Classes The Red River District is hosting lay ministry classes in May that are open to laity from across the conference. Learn more and register. College Scholarship Deadline Extended Our conference Foundation has announced that the deadline for the Tom and Betty Cloyd Scholarship for the 2022 academic year has been extended to May 30, 2022. More info Resources & Ideas for Your Church Connecting Neighbors | "Disaster Ready Congregations" Webinar The TWK Disaster Response Committee is hosting the Connecting Neighbors program, which trains congregations to be prepared for action in the event of a disaster, so the church can be a blessing to others in their affected communities. This Connecting Neighbors overview will help begin identifying ambassadors to support Disaster Ministries at the local church level. This Zoom training will be on May 15 at 2 p.m. Participants will receive the Zoom link on May 14. Register now. ENCORE Ministry Grant Application Deadline Extended to April 29 Ministries that focus on developing intentional, innovative, and creative ministries by, with, and for older adults are eligible to apply for a grant from ENCORE Ministry. The deadline has been extended to April 29. More information and online application "Caring For Our Earth" The community can celebrate God's creation through this recycling, education, and fun family event hosted by Brentwood UMC on May 7. BUMC will collect old electronics, pharmaceutical drugs, small batteries, clothing, and household items as well as items for Williamson County Animal Center. Take a stroll through exhibitions on composting and sustainable alternatives to everyday items. Kids can enjoy making their own bird feeder as well as other arts and crafts, storytime, farm animals, and a special performance by Asbury Choir. More. Tennessee Interfaith Power & Light (TIPL) | "Climate Change and Children's Health" Webinar The TWK Creation Care team invites you to join TIPL for its upcoming webinar, "Climate Change and Children's Healthcare," on April 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Carol Ziegler, a professor at Vanderbilt School of Nursing, will share about some of the many health impacts of climate change on children. Vanessa Lynch, a field organizer for Moms Clean Air Force in western Pennsylvania, will share her personal story of advocating for clean air in her community and present public policy advocacy opportunities. ANNUAL CONFERENCE UPDATES Please note: Clergy and eligible lay voting members receive detailed Annual Conference Information via email. "The River of Life Unites Us" Registration opens this week for the inaugural TWK Annual Conference 2022. All voting members will receive more information and the registration link on Friday by email. Voters must register whether they intend to participate online or in person. Please go to the Annual Conference Webpage: twkumc.org/AC2022. to see the preliminary conference schedule and hotel information. An onsite nursery and day camp will be offered at no cost to parents. Register now for childcare (ages 5 and under) and/or day camp (K-5th grade).
Attention Retired Clergy Note: If you have not received a letter or email and would like to attend the Clergy Retiree Luncheon, please send an email to mparker@twkumc.org by May 25. Seating is limited. If you are a member of the 2022 Class of Retirees, please let us know if you wish to participate in the annual conference video project by contacting us at AC2022@twkumc.org. EAP Counselors On-Site at Annual Conference Methodist Healthcare will be on-site during the TWK Annual Conference with a focus on mental health and emotional well-being.
