TWK Annual Conference 2022 | Denman Awards Nominations Due May 5 The Harry Denman Evangelism Award program honors United Methodists in each annual conference whose exceptional ministry of evangelism – expressed in Word (what), Sign (why), and Deed (how) – brings people into a life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. The TWK Evangelism Team and the Foundation for Evangelism can recognize one youth, one clergy, and one lay person each year in the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference. This year's nominations are due on May 5. Learn more. St. Matthew's UMC Partners With Memphis Nonprofits, UMCs in Homeless Outreach Read this inspiring story about St. Matthew's UMC's outreach with unhoused women and children in Memphis. Cedar Crest Work Day Cedar Crest Camp is calling all youth groups, Sunday school classes, children's ministries, and/or individual volunteers, for a day of volunteering on Saturday, April 9 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Register here. Call to Action from the TWK Church & Society Team The TWK Church & Society team will be raising awareness about various issues throughout the year in accordance with relevant information from the UMC's Social Principles. They also encourage a call to action related to Tennessee's policies regarding the death penalty. Read more. Miriam's Promise | Ignite the Passion After meeting virtually for two consecutive years, Miriam's Promise is hosting its annual fundraising dinner, "Ignite the Promise," on Apr. 29 in Liberty Hall at The Factory in Franklin. Learn more and register. Cloyd Scholarship Deadline Extended! The deadline for the Tom & Betty Cloyd Scholarship has been extended and the criteria have been expanded for who may apply. Any student who is a member of a TWK UMC attending any college or university toward an undergraduate OR graduate degree is eligible. Students are strongly encouraged to apply! June 15 - 17, 2022 | Voting Members to Participate at Brentwood UMC OR Online
The 2022 Annual Conference will be held in person at Brentwood UMC from Wednesday, June 15 through Friday, June 17. Voting members have a choice to participate in person or via online zoom webinar this year. A live stream will be available for congregations and the public to view proceedings. Reports and Resolutions Submission guidelines The deadline for reports and resolutions is April 18. Schedule: The preliminary schedule will be updated as we get closer to June. Hotels: Three Brentwood hotels are offering special block rates. More info Retirees: A letter will arrive in the mail next week with information about the Clergy Retiree Luncheon Children: Registration information for childcare and elementary day camp can be found here. The Upper Room | Estate Sale The Upper Room is hosting two estate sales this weekend, April 7, 8, and 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. One sale features the remaining Upper Room museum collection, while the second sale offers furnishings from its guest property known as the Beasley House. The museum sale includes the best in fine art, porcelains, antique furniture, rugs, silver, brass, and beloved pieces from many cultures and historical periods.
