Gracious and merciful God,
We thank you for last night’s rest and sleep though we know we have brothers and sisters who did not have a place to lay their heads. We know there was weeping and wailing over the more than 40 people who lost their lives this week in the wake of Hurricane Ida. We know our brothers and sisters whose homes were flooded or blown away by tornadoes are grateful to be in the land of the living though family treasures have been destroyed.
We thank you for health care providers and first responders who are administering life saving infusions in the community outside of hospitals to help ease their burden and distress.
We thank you for those who have not had a chance to hug their own children or spouse yet they have been totally all in and fully available to strangers.
You know how many hairs are on our heads and the length of our days.
Some of us are weary and our wells are empty. Please give us rest for our souls, peace for our minds, strength for the day and courage to press on.
Don’t abandon us when our strength is failing.
Come Holy Spirit and baptize us in the deep well of all that is good and holy and healthy that we might greet the day with joy and thanksgiving.
We pray in love and faith to the One who is able to keep us from falling and present us faultless before His Presence with exceeding great joy…
Jesus the Christ, Amen!
