NURSES DAY PRAYER
We Remember
Physician of our souls, Healer of mind, body and spirit, Comforter in sorrow and Counselor in distress, we come to lift up all nurses today. You called them into a ministry of the vulnerable, the sick, and sometimes the hopeless and helpless.
On this day that has been set aside to recognize them:
We remember their many sacrifices of this past year….their families, friends, their losses, their own physical and mental health challenges…
We remember them not being able to go home and share a meal with their families, kiss their spouse or children good night or good morning…
We remember them having to strip in their garages before coming inside their homes, when they were able to get away safely…
We remember the hands of the dying they held close to their hearts.
We remember the prayers they prayed as some breathed their last.
We remember the valiant fight they fought for their own lives and sometimes lost.
We remember too often their tear-streaked faces and wet masks.
We remember the healthy and the feeble struggling to breath and the oxygen just wasn’t enough.
We remember all the IV’s, all the lines and all the monitors and all the stuff that just couldn’t keep every fragile body functioning to its’ full capacity…
We remember long days that stretched into long nights when the relief was too sick to come in…
We remember that God called nurses to be an extension of His loving grace and bountiful mercy.
This day O’ God, bless every nurse with every spiritual blessing. Pour so much into their cups that they overflow. Crown their heads with goodness. Remember every prayer. Hold every tear. Anoint every kindness.
We pray in Jesus Name. Amen
